Tip #2: Paltalk Basic...with no banner ads?

Paltalk Basic Service is free and supported by banner ads.  However, Basic users now have the option of removing banner ads in IM and Chat Room windows by installing the free Ask.com Toolbar.

To remove these ads, download PaltalkScene v9.4 and install the Ask.com Toolbar.  The Ask.com Toolbar will allow you to search the Web easily from the top of your Internet Explorer windows.

If you are already on v9.4, click on the link at the bottom of a Chat Room window (see image below) and choose "Remove Ads Now".  The next time you open an IM or Chat Room the banner ads will be gone!

Wings Thursday!

It's Thursday around 1PM at Paltalk and the smell of hot sauce wafts through the office...the pitter-patter of keyboards in the development corner slows and heads start appearing above the developers work cubes...*sniff*...*sniff*... is it?..... it IS!  It's Wings Thursday!

The Wings Thursday tradition started about a month ago and Thursday has quickly become everyone's favorite day of the week.  See the before and after pics....

Tip # 1 Customize the "Show others the room I'm in" feature

One of the most requested features by PaltalkScene members over the past year was the ability to broadcast the current chat room you are in to your pals. We took heed of the requests and added this feature in version 9.4. If you are not using version 9.4 you can download it from the PaltalkScene download page.

Enable this feature by selecting the "show others the room I'm in" option from the status menu at the top of your pals list (it's the blue 'online' text):

Job Opening: Interface Design Brown-Belt

So, you <3 Paltalk and are teeming with ideas on how to make the service better. Well, we might just have the perfect job opportunity for you!

Are you a right-brain/left-brain person with at least 3 years of experience designing websites or interactive products? Maybe you're a front-end developer who thinks visually. Or you're a designer who gets your hands dirty in markup and scripting languages to solve user experience problems. Maybe you're an interaction designer who can prototype in an object-oriented programming environment.

We're looking for someone based in NYC to be part of our creative group and be responsible for designing and building Paltalk's website and applications from concept to design through front-end implementation.

2002 called, and they just told us about "blogs"

Just in time to talk about PaltalkScene 9.4.

Hey everyone, we wanted to use this space to let you know about all kinds of happenings, current issues, product releases, fun facts, and old-fashioned general information about Paltalk.

At Paltalk, we're constantly looking to make the service a fun place to make and stay in touch with friends online. We think that PaltalkScene 9.4 will further help you with this.

Among other things, PaltalkScene 9.4 will allow you to place phone calls to your friends right from Paltalk. In addition, you've told us how much you want to be able to see what rooms your friends are in - so in this release you can opt-in to show your friends what room you're hanging out in. Check out Pete's upcoming tip on this to learn more.

We hope you enjoy reading this blog and continue to check back now and then. As always, feel free to send us any feedback you might have for making Paltalk a better place.

Regards,
Scott (paltalk)
