NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) --Tuesday is the official kick-off to summer, and many Tri-State residents will spend it at their desks or in their cubicles - so one software company streaming summer fun straight to your computer screen.
The 24-hour video, First Day of Virtual Summer in NYC, is a move by software company Paltalk to "capture the sights and sounds of summer in the big city, for those who are stuck at work, depressed, stressed-out, or even missing the city from afar."
Paltalk CEO Jason Katz told CBSNewYork that the effort was partially inspired by the success of the Yule Log broadcast, an annual, commercial-free Christmas presentation of a fireplace with holiday music playing in the background.
"Because of the success the Yule Log has had on TV, we thought that this would be a fun way to bring the sights and sounds of summer to all New Yorkers," he said.
The video will take viewers on a scenic walk-through of Central Park, to an outdoor café at Washington Square Park and to people-watch in Times Square - just to name a few of the NYC attractions the video will provide.
"We tried to think of all the things that make a quintessential New York City Summer to enable viewers to feel like they are really here," said Katz.
